Northeastern Association of Marine and Great Lakes Laboratories
Student
Support Program 2024
The competition for 2024 is now closed.
The mission of the National Association of Marine Laboratories (NAML) and its three regional organizations is to promote excellence in research, education, and public outreach in the marine sciences. NAML also seeks to provide a forum for the resolution of challenges common to non-profit marine laboratories in the United States and to inform the wise use and conservation of marine and coastal resources. The Association is committed to establishing an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion in every aspect of NAML’s research, education, and outreach.
As part of this mission, the Northeastern Association of Marine and Great Lakes Laboratories (NEAMGLL) is offering two categories of support to undergraduate and graduate students who are attending or visiting NEAMGLL member institutions.
Purpose of Award. Awards are for undergraduate or graduate
students enrolled in or visiting a NEAMGLL Institution. A full
listing of NEAMGLL member institutions can be found on the NEAMGLL
website.
Research Support. Up to $1,000 per student is available to
support student researchers from a NEAMGLL institution. Priority is
given to students who will be performing research at another
NEAMGLL member institution, will be performing marine-freshwater
comparisons, and/or who can demonstrate available matching funds.
Funds can be used for travel, lodging, subsistence and other
related expenses (not including equipment or supplies).
Conference Attendance. Up to $500 per student is available
to help students attend a relevant conference to present on
research conducted primarily at a marine lab or field station of a
NEAMGLL member institution or as an opportunity for professional
development (not presenting). Priority is given to students who
will present their research (oral or poster), who have attended or
presented at few or no professional conferences before, and who can
demonstrate available matching funds when needed. Funds can be used
for registration, travel, lodging, subsistence and other related
conference expenses.
Eligibility. Applicants must be enrolled in or visiting a
